The Battle of Coffee vs. Tea
- Flavored Coffee
If you are looking to get even more out of your coffee, then do not miss out on the most high quality flavors for your home. - This or That: Coffee vs. Tea
Which is "greener," coffee or tea? Coffee is the world's most traded beverage (it is actually the most traded commodity after oil) but tea is the world's most consumed beverage. Americans generally prefer... - Coffee vs. Tea
Coffee has become the most popular drink for Americans everywhere, and it is also hailed to be one of the most valuable commodities in the world. So when you begin to view how many other cultures prefer to drink tea, including the UK and Asia, how do we know which one will win?
There is power in numbers. Coffee is claimed to be sipped regularly by over 50% of all Americans at about 4 cups a day. Where did that deviate from the influence of the Boston Tea Party in the 1700s when the early colonials protested the tax on tea and threw it into the water? One of the main reasons that tea was then shunned by America is the fact that the early Americans fought to gain their independence from Britain, so it made more sense to prefer coffee to the traditional tea drink that came from their home country. In the early years of America, other nations began to export coffee, with America being the biggest importer. This led to most countries worldwide associating coffee with America the way that they do today, especially since it never has been a culture that was dependent upon tea.
As for the health benefits of coffee versus tea, coffee is now giving green tea a run for its money. Initially, green tea was recommended by every health professional as the best antioxidant drink to prevent damage to your health, but it has been found that the number one drink that Americans are getting their antioxidants from is coffee. Since coffee is enjoyed in large quantities every single day, most Americans gain the majority of their antioxidants from the brew, as well as many health benefits, such as disease and age prevention. Not too shabby for a cup of Joe! The best way to drink your coffee is black to get all of the health benefits available, including lowering your risk of diabetes, Parkinson's, and even Alzheimer's.
Tea also does have similar antioxidants for disease prevention, and they both have been recommended for weight loss but for different reasons. Coffee will actually work through the caffeine to suppress your appetite, and the caffeine content does boost your metabolism when it is enjoyed throughout your day. Tea also works to help burn your fat through speeding your metabolism, especially when you are drinking green tea.
So which one is better? It does depend on your preference or taste, but I have to be completely biased and recommend coffee. Many people have preferred tea for its age old history, especially in the Asian culture, including disease prevention and medicinal benefits, but coffee is beginning to lead the race. There have been so many technological studies showing the advanced health benefits of coffee that it is hard to overlook them. Not to mention the fact that it is the custom of the American culture to sip a rich and dark cup of Joe every day of the week, and that is something that I can't argue with. Drink to your health!

"but it has been found that the number one drink that Americans are getting their antioxidants from is coffee."
Well, if that's all they're drinking, then yes, they're getting most of their antioxidants from coffee. If they were having green tea, they'd be getting WAY more antioxidants than they were with coffee. That entire paragraph makes my head hurt from the circular logic.
Haha, 'Actual Factmando' and 'Buff Drinklots' (same ip address), I'm so sorry that your zeal for tea makes you insult me :) The Hub above is simply based on the latest research, thanks for your interest.
Yes, "buy a book" because books are obviously the truest form of knowledge. Not a single person has ever printed false statements in books. Ever.
*Cough* Kite runner *cough*
Jackass. Ignore the angry trolls, there is such a thing as a nice troll.
Well written article. I prefer to change it up, coffee one day, tea the next.
Carry on!
Would you happen to have any links to the inferred studies or books I could check out?
Thanks!
I liked the article. Good work. I've always been telling ppl coffee will keep you skinny or help you loose weight. One/two cups right in the morning and a cigarette if you smoke and you will have one nice healthy stool*.
Grins.
*Makes you poop all of the crap out of your system*
One thing i don't like about coffee is that it stains your teeth. Green tea, especially, actually "cleans" your teeth as you drink it.
Coffee has ben a all time favorite with me although tea is also good as a filler but a cup of coffee is the best thing that can happen after a long nap in the afternoon or before going to bed.
I used to drink coffee, but the time when i just drank a cup and I had to catch the bus just minutes thereafter, that's when I stopped drinking it....
really nice article though, but I prefer tea over coffee :))
Coffe has some serious benefits- and the link with Parkinson's if it turns out to be confirmed as substantial is definetly very interesting- however people almost always leave out the fact that coffe has man CARCINOGENS in it as well. While they are in very small quantities that are beleived to be of no seriosus risk when drunk in monderation, it is still somthing to consider.
Coffee always wins in my book. Hands down.
Nice article! Coffee does all kinds of positive things! Even much more. Coffee can erase ones miseries when they arise for example if one is miserable somehow like absence of joy/depression and similar things -> cup of coffe can easily blast this miseries away. It acts like some type of pain killer sometimes... I personally believe "coffee is actually forgotten natural medicine for various mentally born miseries" not actually stimulant or psychoactive drug as some ppls. believe...

You are an idiot! Not a single thing about Coffee that you have stated is anywhere in the realm of correct! Buy a book instead of getting facts from Starbucks addicted bloggers!
